Awesome High school marching band and silver lamé dancers.
¡Ocho de Mayo!
Cherokee Street’s annual Cinco de Mayo festival was on the 8th this year. It maybe the best St. Louis street party. Suck it, Soulard! It really was a great time. I had a Pina Colada made in a pineapple, saw an eight year old get punched in the face (its OK, it was by another eight year old,) there was a mechanical bull, insanely good mexican food (I got pieces of elotes all up in my mustache,) live music, crazy awesome parade, dogs, bikes, art, warm sunshine, a cool breeze, and positivity out the ass. I know it makes me sound like a hippie, but there was some seriously good vibes going on Saturday. Gracias, Cherokee Street!

Andale! Andale! Luchador muerto para Cinco de Mayo!
This post was made possible by 2 semesters of high-school Spanish class. Thanks, Señora Griener!
A cute little drawing of dogs. Insert emoticon here. This was a gift for a friend, of said friend’s dogs. Saccharine, but what are you gonna do.
Note: This thing posted way more saturated than its suppose to be. Its like neon for some reason. I dunno.

Quick sketch, digital color. Little parasite man / Joseph Stalin + plus faceless girls. I dunno, your guess is as good as mine. I was really tired when I did this.
Oh yeah, Free Comic Book Day!
Yesterday was free comic book day and while I was out I picked up a copy of Wilson by Daniel Clowes. Its really amazing and if you like dark comedies about sad sack loners, you should pick it up. Great writing and illustration. It kinda inspired me to try something similar, so I may start a web-comic or something soon.
Also, Picked up a copy of Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopedia Vol. 1. Its insane! Check it out.
Koken Art Factory
The “Alice” show at Koken Art Factory was pretty great. Lots of interesting art and interesting people. Not to mention belly-dancers, naked ladies in body paint, great live music, booze, hookah tents, and some weird interpretative dance version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Plus, my family showed up and I got to hang out with them at some bar where I got to see a guy vomit in the urinal. All around a successful night.

Just a little sketch of some creepy baby heads and a lady with a bird in her hair. I’ve decided I’m going to start adding some quick digital color to some of these sketches. It makes it a little easier to decide if I want to take that sketch to the next level.
Record Store Day!
This is awesome. Hand drawn cover for “Don’t Quit Your Day Job.” A special LP of music by various employees of St. Louis record stores that participated in Record Store Day. If you’re not familiar with Record Store Day, you should educate yourself. As if the hand drawn cover wasn’t enough, its pressed on cotton-candy pink vinyl. I’m not sure who illustrated this cover but its pretty incredible. They used nine exclamation marks and five question marks. That’s a bold move. Plus, creative vocabulary “jammerin!” I also ended up with some previously unreleased stuff from Whiskeytown and The Drive-by Truckers. Plus Numero Group’s Eccentric Soul#023, which is a collection of forgotten soul tracks from East St. Louis’ now defunct Yodi Music. Good Good Day.
